The beach is a way of life for many Carolina Beach residents and those who visit. And now the beach is even more welcoming to residents and travelers with disabilities and others with limited mobility who are looking for a relaxing or exhilarating day on the beach.
Through the efforts of Island Women, the Carolina Beach Parks and Recreation Department, Carolina Beach Ocean Rescue, and local residents, there are several beach wheelchairs available in Carolina Beach! All beach wheelchairs are available free of charge!
For those looking for a more exhilarating experience or would like to be closer to the sand, we added 5 Sand Rider chairs for the new season! Unlike our other chairs, the Sand Rider not only travels across sand but can also go into water up to 10 inches!

A Few Reminders: In order to better accommodate all our beach wheelchair users, we ask that everyone follow these guidelines:
• Our beach wheelchairs are for sand only. Please avoid rocky or gravel areas.
• Please report any mishaps immediately. We want to ensure our beach wheelchairs are operating properly and safely for our users.
• Our beach wheelchairs must remain in Pleasure Island. If you will be leaving the island and require a beach wheelchair, other local agencies can provide you access to one.
• Please clean/rinse the beach wheelchair after each use and prior to returning to original location.
